Geography of Libya
 
Libya, the fourth largest state in Africa, is located in North Africa and lies between latitudes 33° N and approximately 20°N, and longitudes 8E and 25E.

It possesses a Mediterranean coastline of approximately 1820 km in length. It is bordered, by Egypt to the east, Sudan to the south-east, Chad and Niger to the south with Algeria and Tunisia to the west and the North West respectively.

 
     
The flag of Libya is plain green. Green is the traditional colour of Islam, the state religion. The green is also symbolic of Moammar al-Qadhafi's "Green Revolution".

Libya has an area of approximately 1.775.500 km²

The official language is arabic.
 
Population is over 5,499,074 people.
 
The capital city of Libya is a Tripoli (population 1 million, in arabic: Tarabulus). The city is located in the northwest of the country, on the Mediterranean Sea. It was founded in the 7th century BC by the Phoenicians, who named it Oea.
